During the Prix Opus 2002 Gala, Arturo Parra was a finalist in the category Disque de l'année : musique actuelle, contemporaine, électroacoustique for his CD recording Parr(A)cousmatique. The following year, he was selected by the 12th Annual Florida Electroacoustic Music Festival 2003 held in Gainesville, Florida, to perform his mixed work D'or et de lumière composed in collaboration with Mauricio Bejarano. He has won many prizes and awards including the People's choice award during the 4th Concurso Internacional de Música Electroacústica de São Paulo (CIMESP, Brazil, 2001) for Soledad, a work for guitar and tape composed with Gilles Gobeil; the Paso al Arte national composition competition (Colombia) for his guitar and vocal expression work Furor (1999). He was awarded two national composition grants from the Colombia ministry of culture (1995 and 1997), several performance grants as well as a number of composition and recording grants from the Canada Council and the Conseil des arts et des lettres du Québec. He has world-premiered over thirty works by Latin-American and Canadian composers.
