As of early 2004 Andrew Ager had been the Composer-in-Residence of the Georgian Bay Symphony for one season, and of Timothy Eaton Memorial Church for three years.

Several of his orchestral and chamber works have begun to receive performances abroad, including venues such as Winchester Cathedral and the Ajijic Festival in Mexico. In 2002 he was invited to write a work for the Klangfruhling Music Festival and combined his trip to the premiere there with a performance tour of Southern England.

He is collaborating with Tryptych Productions of Toronto in the writing of an opera based on Mary Shelley's "Frankenstein", which is to be produced in 2005.

Privileged to have had his music performed by such artists as the Penderecki Quartet, the Elmer Iseler Singers, The Talisker Players, and Sinfonia Toronto, he is also happy to have worked with numerous poets and librettists, such as William Whitl, Rex Deverell, and Leah Davidson.

Finding himself "a poor fit", generally, with the contemporary music world, he resolved several years ago to "go my own way, with reference only to an inner world". He has been most fortunate in attracting many distinguished performers and patrons.

In 2004-2005 his tone poem "The Solemn Land" will receive performances from three Canadian orchestras.

The recipient of numerous grants from the Laidlaw Foundation, The Ontario Arts Council, and The Canada Council for the Arts, he is working on commissions from the Canadian Children's Opera Chorus, and the Duke Trio, the latter work to be premiered at the Ottawa Chamber Festival in August 2004.
