Roddy Ellias
 Biography

Roddy Ellias (b. 1949) earned his Master of Music in composition from the Université de Montréal where he studied with André Prévost. He is presently a professor of composition, arranging and performing at Concordia University and continues to pursue an active career as a jazz guitarist, appearing on stage with many renowned international musicians. Along with a number of pieces written for his Roddy Ellias Ensemble he has composed several large ensemble works, including Whale Spirit Rising (1996) for baritone saxophone and string orchestra, the orchestral essays The Weather Report , Little Red Riding Hood and Kwimu (all 1991) and the Wizard of Oz Suite (1990).
