Nuit Blanche "Skyharp Ghost Tree"

Nuit Blanche "Skyharp Ghost Tree"
October 3/4, 2009
Chalmers House, 20 St. Joseph St., Toronto ON

Kristi Allik & Robert F. Mulder installation for Nuit Blanche. Skyharp Ghost Tree by Kingston-based Kristi Allik and Rob Mulder will occupy the CMC’s front garden. The Skyharp series creates virtual sound environments triggered by movements of trees. In Ghost Tree, video footage documents the effects of the disastrous 1998 ice storm on one of Skyharp’s star “performers” - a 90-year old elm. Recorded improvisations by dancer Holly Small, who interacts with the resulting soundscape in a "tree-like manner", serve as simultaneous interpretations of both the tree and the ice storm’s impact.
