The CMC has libraries located in Vancouver, Calgary, Toronto, Montreal, and Sackville. Each Centre has a collection of approximately 15,000 unpublished scores, 4000 selected published scores, 1,000 commercial recordings and also provides streaming access to nearly 9,000 archival recordings. Our libraries provide wealth of reference information about our Associate composers, including biographies, reviews, program notes and photographs.
Our library staff can also assist you in your search through the Help and Contact Us sections by using our Live Chat service. This real time service is staffed weekdays from 12:00 – 3:00 pm.
The Canadian Music Centre lends out scores composed by our 700 Associate Composers. Loans are free of charge and are offered for a period of 2 months. Loaned materials are renewable any time before the initial due date.
To search the CMC library database or for more information on borrowing policies, go to Find Music.
The CMC's archival recordings can be streamed through our website and listened to from any internet-accessible computer. For access to this collection please request a password from the National Librarian. Print materials and vertical files are also available and are for reference only.
