I am drowning in traditional string repertoire at this time of year. (I work as an accompanist at Dalhousie University's Fountain School of Performing Arts.) In an attempt to regain some perspective, I have started work on my next solo show: FANTASTIC! It's a program of piano fantasies by Canadian composers.

The focus of the show will be Barbara Pentland's Fantasy which I have not played before - it's high time I got around to it. I'll also be including fantasies by Peter Hatch and Paul McIntyre; and Monica Pearce and Michael Parker are hoping to write a couple of new works for me as well. To top it all off, Daryl Jamieson gave me a new piece yesterday which looks like it will fit right in. (The metronome mark is a little scary, so I'll have to wait to make a final decision on that one.)

So many good pieces of music - this is a nice break from Lalo and Schumann.
