Sean Bickerton

Sean Bickerton has spent his entire life dedicated to the performing arts. He studied violin, French horn, piano, singing and acting in his youth, later playing violin professionally in the Victoria Symphony Orchestra while studying violin performance at the University of Victoria. He also served as concertmaster of the University of Victoria Orchestra and the Contemporary Music Ensemble.

As an arts executive, Bickerton was most recently Executive Director of the Vancouver Recital Society. Previously he was a Vice President of Columbia Artists Management Inc. in New York where he produced North American tours for celebrated European orchestras and managed Grammy Award-winning classical artists.

In addition to producing Ricky Martin’s first stadium concerts in China, Bickerton is co-founder of KultureShock.Net, a website service for more than 160 performing artists and has presented web and social media seminars for the Manhattan School of Music, Opera Magazine, Van Cliburn Competition and Chamber Music America.

Bickerton moved back to Vancouver In 2006 and has been closely involved in arts and community issues ever since – running for city council twice, serving on the Vancouver Recital Society board, heading up a task force for the Langley Community Music School, producing Vancouver 2050: Creative City arts conference, and serving on the City of Vancouver’s Arts & Culture Policy Council. He takes over the leadership of CMC BC from Bob Baker.
