Performance Space

The Creative Hub Performance Space is available free of charge to performers, music teachers and students for concerts or presentations including works by Canadian composers.

It is an ideal venue for those looking for an intimate, relaxed and comfortable space to host their next performance or arts-related event. For music teachers, it is a perfect venue for studio concerts and master classes. Conveniently and centrally located in downtown Vancouver, BC (at 837 Davie Street), the space is available for daytime, or occasionally evening events (subject to availability).

Those wishing to present a concert or any other type of event should apply to the Canadian Music Centre by contacting Cathleen Gingrich by email (bcregion@musiccentre.ca), or by phone (604-734-4622).

Approval is subject to availability of the performance space, availability of CMC staff, and suitability of the proposed concert or event. Creative, innovative and multi-disciplinary programming ideas featuring Canadian works are highly encouraged!

Performance Space Guidelines

Performers may use the performance space free of charge. This includes a dress rehearsal on the day of the performance, and the performance itself. A donation to the Canadian Music Centre for use of the space, when possible, is appreciated.

A refundable deposit will be requested if it is necessary to sign out a key.

Performers may charge admission at a rate of their choosing, but are asked to consult the CMC for confirmation of this price. All ticket sales are the responsibility of the performers. The Canadian Music Centre cannot sell tickets.

Audience capacity is limited to 40.

The Canadian Music Centre does not offer payment of any sort to performers.

Performers are permitted to sell their own CD recordings and other commercial materials at the performance. All sales are the responsibility of the performers.

The Canadian Music Centre will assist in the promotion of the concert/event through its e-newsletter, blog, social media, and other sources as appropriate.

All concerts/events should include at least one Canadian work. The CMC BC Region library offers a huge selection of Canadian works, as well as comprehensive repertoire consultation services.

Performers are encouraged to include some level of educational content in their presentations. This may consist of, but is not limited to, presenting information about the piece and the composer before or after the performance.

Meeting Room

The Meeting Room is located on the upper level of the CMC BC Region office. This medium-sized space, with its mandate of mentorship, education and community engagement, is ideal for meetings and presentations of all kinds. The Meeting Room offers a professional-quality stereo system and is conveniently located right next to the CMC BC Region Library.
