Centrevisits is a music education initiative presented by CMC Ontario Region. It introduces students of every age to the ongoing history of contemporary classical music in Canada. Centrevisits invites students and teachers to Chalmers House, the location of our Toronto office.

Centrevisits can be tailored to your specific education needs, such that everyone from the casual music listener to masterclass musician will benefit from the experience. Here is a small sample of what Centrevisits can include:

  • CMC Overview and Tour: learn about the origin and mission of the CMC, and explore our library and archives.
  • Repertoire Workshop: students working towards becoming professional performers gain an increased awareness of Canadian composers, while accessing musical works in the CMC catalogue that can be used for studio performance and critique. Whenever possible, this process can include score analysis and feedback sessions with living composers.
  • Composer Workshop: a CMC Associate Composer will speak with students on a topic customized to their needs, such as music creation, Canadian music history, careers in the arts, or issues facing artists in Canada.

The price is $100 for a basic visit, and $250 if a composer workshop is included. The Centrevisit will last between two and three hours and can be scheduled any time during office hours (9:00 AM to 5:00 PM, Monday to Friday).

To book your Centrevisit, please contact CMC Ontario at (416) 961-6601, extension 207, or email ontario@musiccentre.ca.
