Ceremony of Carols by Benjamin Britten is the centrepiece of this festive potpourri of music for choir and harp. This 20th century Christmas favourite using medieval texts and musical style is nestled among Renaissance motets and recent creations by Paul Mealor and Ola Gjeilo.

Amabilis invites you to an afternoon concert celebrating both the joy and the tender beauty of the Christmas season. The programme features Kim Arnesen's gentle His Light in Us, Sara Quartel's hauntingly beautiful arrangement of The Huron Carol, the meaningful eloquence of Juso Elberdin's Ubi caritas and Hyo Won Woo's fabulously exuberant Cum Sancto Spiritu.

This special event will feature Canadian operatic tenor Richard Margison OC and his daughter Lauren, a fast-rising vocalist in her own right, in an entertaining evening that combines the genres of pop, folk, musical hits and, of course, opera – truly a celebration of beautiful music, supporting the Spec’s Summer Camp Fund for kids.

Calgary’s award-winning Spiritus Chamber Choir’s December concert will bring Italy to Knox United Church!

“A Venetian Christmas” will explore the rich and sonorous sounds of the late Renaissance and early Baroque periods in works by Gabrieli, Grandi, and Monteverdi.

Spiritus will be joined by specialists from across the continent performing on sackbuts and cornetti. Every balcony will be ringing with a glorious sound!

Vocal Mayhem will feature powerful choral masterworks by Orff, Barber, Whitacre, and Sisask and will also feature spirituals such as Wade in the Water, Joshua fought the battle, and Witness. Spirituals are religious (generally Christian) songs that were created by enslaved African people in the United States.

The Calgary Boys’ Choir is delighted to perform in their main spring concert “Alive!” - presenting songs about Nature and the energy of boys - on May 2nd.

This concert will feature several new Canadian works including “Four Grassi Lakes Seasons” by Calgary composer Allan Gordon Bell and “Alive!” – a new work written for the choir by Paul Grindlay.

The program will also include their famous “Tyrannosaurus Rex”, the Canadian classic, “Land of the Silver Birch”, and more.

This concert will also includes a CD launch and a silent auction.
