Chad Spears, a native of Boise, ID, is currently pursuing a Doctor of Music degree in Piano Performance at Florida State University, where he also graduated with a Master of Music degree in Piano Performance. He studies under Dr. Read Gainsford. Prior to his education here in Tallahassee, Chad graduated from the University of Idaho, earning both a Master of Architecture degree as well as a Bachelor of Music degree in Piano Performance. Chad has been a featured soloist with the Washington Idaho Symphony and the Spokane Symphony, among others. He has a strong interest in collaborative piano and gave a presentation on “Team Dynamics in Music” at Florida State’s annual SPEAR Conference. Chad is in demand as an accompanist and has assisted many musicians in competition wins. He has taken part in several master classes over the course of his piano training, including one given by the renowned French pianist Pascal Rogé. A dedicated student, Chad was named a Lionel Hampton scholar for two consecutive years, a distinction that the University of Idaho music program reserves for its finest students.
