PORTRAIT OF A PIONEER: The Vocal Music of Jean Coulthard

Jennifer Taverner, soprano
Kara Huber, piano

Toronto Soprano Jennifer Taverner brings her musical wit and Canadian zeal to a programme showcasing the craft and evolution of Jean Couthlard’s vocal writing. Coulthard composed various song cycles over her lifetime; Taverner and pianist Kara Huber examine the highlights, offering familiar pieces alongside some unexpected surprises! The Ontario premiere of The Woman I Am (2010) by Lloyd Burritt - a former student of Jean Coulthard - complements the programme.
