An Evening of Baltic Music with Spiritus Chamber Choir

Spiritus Chamber Choir, Calgary’s award-winning chamber choir, will start their 2014/15 season with Baltic Connections on Sunday, October 5, 2014 at 7:30 p.m. at Knox United Church
(506 – 4 Street SW, Calgary).
This concert of Baltic music will feature the sonorous sounds and incredible virtuoso capabilities of Spiritus Chamber Choir. Guest conductor, Dr. Leonard Ratzlaff, will lead the choir along with special guests, Sara Staples, mezzosoprano and Cheryl Emery, piano. Dr. Ratzlaff was named to a Member of the Order of Canada in 2011, in recognition of his work as a conductor and professor at the University of Alberta. His program – Baltic Connections – will present Estonian and Latvian music by composers such as Esenvalds and Tormis. The program also includes Magnificat and Put vejini by Canadian composer, Imant Raminsh who is of Latvian descent.
