Happy halloween!

Thanks to everyone who came out and made our BreakOut West Classical Showcase a success in Winnipeg. Big congratulations to Allan Bell and Land’s End who took home the WCMA for Composition of the Year for Allan’s work “Field Notes.” This comes after a JUNO Award earlier this year for the same piece! Congratulations also to Corey Hamm ― his disc “The People United Will Never Be Defeated!” won in the Classical Recording of the Year category.

A reminder that our emerging composer competition deadline is the end of this week ― don’t forget to submit as the winner receives $1,000 and a performance by the Winnipeg Symphony Orchestra. Past winners include Associate Composers Vincent Ho and Abigail Richardson

It is getting close to the end of the year and we are pushing hard to make this our best year for donations ever. As costs rise faster than available grants we strive every year to do more with less. Your donation directly assists us in presenting events like the JUNO and WCMA classical music showcases, producing this newsletter and making Canadian music available to people around the world through our library and website. Donate now at:

Thanks for your continued support of Canadian composers and their music!

Don’t forget to visit our website at musiccentre.ca to upload Canadian music events to our event calendar.

Enjoy!
