Programme Note:
Tamaso mā jyotir gamaya, which means lead me from darkness to light, is a part of an ancient prayer from India to celebrate the winter solstice.The idea of repeating the word night in three different languages as well as to emphasize on the Sanskrit phrase “Tamaso mā jyotir gamaya” come from the concept of mantra which in Hinduism and Buddhism is a word or sound repeated to aid concentration in meditation.
