Programme Note:
Zaagros is one of the tallest and longest mountain ranges in the Middle East, and bears some of the most significant historical and cultural artifacts of social evolution in its history. As a child my constant encounter with these mountains always left me in awe not because of their immensity, but how much they have witnessed over millennia.
This piece is by no means a “description” of the mountain range, in fact it could not be further from it. The narrative of this piece is a pilgrimage that one takes to the mountain top, and portrays the physical and mental struggle that is involved, which results in a sort of spiritual clarity at the end.
