for Flute, Oboe and String Orchestra

Stewart Grant
Composer
Stewart Grant
Composition Date: 2011
Duration: 00:12:00
Genre: Orchestra / Large Ensembles, String Orchestra With Multiple Soloists, Mixed Woodwinds Without Keyboard

Instrumentation:

Instrumentation Set Number 1:
  • 1 x Flute
  • 1 x Oboe
  • 1 x String orchestra
Programme Note:
The idea of composing the Concerto flowed naturally form the success of Stewart Grant's Trio for Flute, Oboe and Piano "A Seder for Peace" that was commissioned for [the oboist Dudu Carmel and flutist Eyal Ein-Habar] by Er'ella Talmi and the Sons et Couleurs au Musée chamber music series at the Musée de Québec for their 2004 tour of eastern Canada. In 2007, their performance of this work with pianist Akiki Tominaga was issued on CD by Centaur Records.

The Concerto is a three-movement work in a neo-classical style that exploits the virtuosity, lyricism and remarkable sens of ensemble that characterize the playing of these fine artists.
