'Singing Only Softly', a new chamber opera about Anne Frank, premieres Nov 2-4 2019 in Toronto. Commissioned by Loose Tea Music Theatre with the support of the Prix 3 Femmes for female opera creators and the Ontario Arts Council, it will be presented as a double bill with Grigory Frid's chamber opera 'The Diary of Anne Frank in an evening of music honouring and exploring Anne Frank's story and enduring legacy.

With a score by CMC Associate Composer Cecilia Livingston, a libretto by CMC Associate Composer Monica Pearce, and dramaturgy by Alaina Viau, 'Singing Only Softly' explores newly published sections of Anne Frank's diary that were redacted from earlier editions. Produced and performed by an all-female team including sopranos Sara Schabas and Gillian Grossman with pianist Cheryl Duvall at Heliconian Hall, 7:30pm. Tickets $35, $25 for students/arts workers (at the door only).
