Programme Note:
The Missa Brevis began as a wedding gift for friends. The Sanctus and Agnus were written for that purpose in 1980. The entire mass was premiered nearly twenty years later by the Elmer Iseler Singers in 1999, as winning the composition in the Ruth Watson Henderson Choral Composition Competition of that year. Kyrie, Credo, and Agnus borrow directly from liturgical chant, or are otherwise inspired by the spirit of this repertoire.

Premiere Information:
05/02/1999, St. Patrick's Church, Toronto; Elmer Iseler Singers, conductor: Lydia Adams
