Arthur Poynter

REVEREND ARTHUR POYNTER, composer, choir conductor, was born in Hamilton, Ontario, November 16, 1913 and died in Toronto, June 30, 1981. He received his BA at McMaster University in 1943 and B. Div., also at McMaster, in 1946.

Following ordination as a Baptist minister, he served 1948-58 in Toronto churches; studied composition 1950-54 at the University of Toronto with John Beckwith, Godfrey Ridout, S. Drummond Wolff, and John Weinzweig; and lectured 1955-63 at McMaster Divinity College. ...
