Z. CHESKY NECESKI was born in Macedonia in 1967 and moved to Canada at the age of 5. He graduated from the University of Toronto in 1993 and holds a Ph.D. degree in composition conferred upon him by the University of Pennsylvania in 1996. His teachers have included Richard Wernick, George Crumb, Jay Reise, Harry Freedman and Gustav Ciamaga. Besides composing for traditional instruments, Neceski is an avid electroacoustic composer and an accomplished free-bass accordionist, specializing in contemporary works for his instrument. A compilation of his works is available on the CD, The Prophets of Pella.
