A graduate of Concordia (B.F.A.), and McGill Universities (Dip. Ed., M.A.), and recipient of 2 Scholarship Awards to the "Banff School of Fine Arts", as well as, private studies and master classes with renowned artists/composers (Joe Pass, John Abercrombie, David Russell, and Leo Brower). Norman's music has received critical acclaim from Music Critics, as well as, dozens of featured articles from the Press.

As a guitarist, Norman began at age 15 with "Donald K. Donald" in Montreal. Today, as a guitarist/composer, his original guitar compositions have been featured on CBC Radio (“Jazzbeat”, “Saturday Spotlight”, “Prelude”, “MainStreet”, “Au Rhythmie D’Atlantique”, “Entre Les Deux Oreilles”, “Les Jeunes Artists”, 3 separate recordings (national broadcasts) for “Les Grandes Concerts”), etc... & CBC TV (Variety, Ce Soir Plus), Bravo!TV, MTV-2, ASN, Vision TV, The Montreal Jazz Festival, as well as, concert halls, and in clubs.

In 1999, Norman was a top 5 finalist for "East Coast Guitarist Of The Year". In 1986, He was a top 5 finalist for the Eastern Canada Division in a National Jazz Competition. His experience spans over 3 decades with diversity ranging from rock music with Donald K Donald (late 60's)...to jazz with Juno winner Oliver Jones...to solo classical guitar performances for Premier Bernard Lord and other visiting dignitaries.

As a composer, Norman's music can be heard each day on CBC "Mainstreet" as the popular program's theme music (2000-2005). His classical guitar compositions have been studied and performed by students at the University Of Moncton since 1989, including featured concerts devoted exclusively to His guitar compositions. Distinguished groups such as the "Canadian Guitar Quartet" and "Akousma" have performed and recorded his compositions in live concerts, CBC broadcasts, and television features. Also, In 2004 Norman was commissioned to compose music for The Canadian Vaudeville Co. As Musical Director, He composed several diverse pieces for Jugglers, Acrobats, Magicians and Chorus Dancers, incorporating many musical styles, and time periods, from 1900-2004.

In these last 2 decades Norman has expanded his musical horizons, and output, by developing himself as an engineer/producer, utilizing state-of-the-art technology in his Project Studio.

Norman's Discography (self-produced original music) includes: "Sonic Visions" in 1990, "Eclectic Measures" in 1998, "Christmas Guitars" in 1999, and "Spanish Spirit" in 2005.
