Voix Intimes was inspired by the principle of ‘Interior Necessity’ described by Kandinsky in his book, About Spirituality in Art. This ‘Interior Necessity’ is made up of three musical necessities:

1. Each artist, as a creator, must express what is peculiar to himself.

2. Each artist, as a child of his time, must express what is peculiar to his time.

3. Each artist, as a servant of Art, must express what is generally peculiar to art.

“In this work, Denis Gougeon took a oath toward the essential, in search of his intimate voice.”
