“Fiala’s Ouverture burlesque was written in July, 1972. It is a short orchestral work scored for a Beethoven size orchestra: double wood-winds and brass (without trombones or tuba), timpani and a full complement of strings. It was conceived as an orchestral opener to an evening of symphonic music, lighthearted in style and entertaining in spirit.”
