Type:Press (pdf)
Description:

This article is a review of the premiere performance of John Rea's The Prisoners Play, a new chamber opera for children. The performance, given by the opera department of the University of Toronto's faculty of music, was called "a huge success [as an experiment in genre]." The author says, "Rea has assumed that children are not likely to get upset by serial music, unlike most of their parents. It was a correct assumption."
