Canada Council Head of Music Announced

The Canada Council for the Arts today announced that Aimé Dontigny is the new Head of the Music Section, effective immediately.

Audio artist since 1995, Aimé Dontigny was co-artistic director of No Type, one of the first Canadian mp3 labels in experimental music, and one of the founders of the Canadian New Music Network. He also worked for the electroacoustic music label empreintes DIGITALes, as well as Ambiances Magnétiques, a label specialized in musique actuelle. Aimé joined the Council as a Program Officer in the Music Section in 2007 and has been acting Head since December 2011.

"Aimé has demonstrated a strong understanding of the entire music sector since joining the Council," said Anne Valois, Director, Arts Disciplines Division. "I know he will do an excellent job of representing the current trends and challenges of the music sector."
