Amy Spurr is a recent graduate from Memorial University of Newfoundland where she received her Bachelor of Music (Honours) in violin performance, studying with Nancy Dahn. In September, she will continue her education by entering in her first year of the Master of Music in violin performance program at the University of Toronto. Originally from the Annapolis Valley, Nova Scotia, Amy was a member of the Nova Scotia Youth Orchestra for four years as well as other community orchestras. During her time in St. John’s, Amy has enjoyed playing with the Newfoundland Symphony Orchestra, the Newfoundland Symphony Orchestra Sinfonia, and the MUN Chamber Orchestra. Amy was the recent winner of the 2012 Concerto Competition at Memorial’s School of Music and performed with the Chamber Orchestra in April. Amy has attended music festivals such as Domaine Forget and Orford Arts Centre in Quebec, as well as the Tuckamore Chamber Music Festival in St. John’s, where she has studied with teachers Mark Fewer and Annalee Patipatanakoon.
