The Toronto New Music Alliance presents New Music 101!

March 11, 2013

(Toronto, ON) – The members of the Toronto New Music Alliance (TNMA) are presenting the third annual New Music 101 series at the Toronto Reference Library in April and May. New Music 101 is a four-part series of free interactive public education presentations that highlight new directions in music creation and performance: chamber and electronic music, sound art, video game composition, and interdisciplinary projects are just some of the areas being explored.

This is a unique opportunity to experience new music. You will meet some of the most celebrated artists in Toronto, and discover the next generation of musicians and composers who are active in the city. The series will be hosted by John Terauds. Terauds writes about classical music and opera at musicaltoronto.org and is freelance classical music critic for the Toronto Star.

New Music 101 is made possible by contributions from the SOCAN Foundation, the Toronto Musicians Alliance Trust Fund, the Canadian League of Composers, the Canadian Music Centre, and the Canada Council for the Arts.

Dates: April 8, April 15, April 22, May 6
Time: All sessions run from 7:00-8:00pm
Location: Elizabeth Beeton Auditorium
Toronto Reference Library (789 Yonge St)
