Spring Concert for Red Snow Collective
Celebrates Asian Heritage Month

The concert celebrates Red Snow & launches the Music for Red Snow CD, with special guest artist Red Snow's music composer, Alice Ping Yee Ho on grand piano, accompanied by Jamie Kruspe on violin. Other feature artists include: Patty Chan on erhu, Miriam Sue on guzheng and more fantastic Canadian artists. There will be a silent auction of wonderful items including gourmet cooking classes, dinners at some of Toronto's great Asian restaurants, artwork by Chinese artists, beautifully handpainted clothes, art workshops and more. Following the concert there will be a delicious reception with yakitori & seoul food.

Celebrate Red Snow's double happiness of their world premiere in Toronto January 2012 & international premiere in Shanghai November 2012!
Meet some of the artists as they share music from the show to launch their Music for Red Snow CD. Red Snow by Diana Tso, is a story about love, pain and reconciliation of three generations of a Chinese Canadian family and brings a light to our global healing from war.

Alice Ping Yee Ho is a Hong Kong-born Canadian composer acclaimed for her “distinctly individual” style and “organic flow of imagination.” Considered “among the most important composers writing in this country” (The Record), she has written in many musical genres and received numerous national and international awards, including the du Maurier Arts Ltd. Canadian Composers Competition, MACRO International Composition Competition, Luxembourg International Composition Prize and International League of Women Composers Competition. Often performed at national and international new music festivals her works have been played by major ensembles and soloists including the China National Symphony, Polish Radio Choir, Esprit Orchestra, the Toronto, Vancouver, Winnipeg and Victoria Symphonies, Luxembourg Sinfonietta, Amterdam’s Nieuw Ensemble, Penderecki String Quartet, percussionist Beverley Johnston, and violist Rivka Golani. Her discography includes releases on the Centrediscs, Blue Griffin, Electra and Phoenix labels. Ms. Ho holds a Bachelor of Music degree in composition with high distinction from Indiana University and a Master of Music degree in composition from the University of Toronto. www.alicepingyeeho.com
