Chambercon is a contemporary chamber music extravaganza celebrating Vancouver new music ensembles and the directions they follow. A co-production of Redshift Music Society and Vancouver New Music (VNM), Chambercon will feature a host of ground-breaking world premieres by Canadian composers, including John Burke, Justin Christensen, Wolf Edwards, Ava Grayson, John Korsrud/Hugh Fraser, Colin MacDonald, Giorgio Magnanensi, and Rita Ueda.

Enjoy virtuosic performances by scene-defining Vancouver new music groups Cordei, NOVO Ensemble, and Duo Verdejo, as well as a unique set of interpretations of works from VNM's repertoire by the Ethos Collective. As part of this four-hour chamber music extravaganza, VNM also presents VNM Panorama, a new work by Giorgio Magnanensi for large ensemble and electronics that celebrates Vancouver New Music’s 40th Anniversary season. Performed by the Ethos Collective with members of Negative Zed, other participating ensembles, and the Vancouver Electronic Ensemble, VNM Panorama weaves together a number of essential themes, concepts, and distillations from the vault of VNM’s musical past into an immersive, aural panorama.

Light refreshments will be provided FREE during set breaks throughout the afternoon.
