"Peterborough-area composer R. Murray Schafer has been named a Companion of the Order of Canada.

The legendary Canadian composer, who lives with his wife Eleanor James on a quiet rural property in Indian River just east of Peterborough, joined 90 appointments to the Order announced Monday afternoon.

The 80-year-old Sarnia, Ont. native is considered one of Canada's best-known living composers.

He is especially known for his monumental operatic salute to nature, Patria, and for his ever-evolving Wolf Project, which involves a number of people, including musicians, taking to the wilderness each year..."
