FEBRUARY 04, 2014 (TORONTO, ON) – Centrediscs, the award-winning label of the Canadian Music Centre, is thrilled to announce that Allan Gordon Bell and Stephen Chatman have been nominated in the category of Classical Composition of the Year at the 2014 JUNO Awards, for Bell’s piece Field Notes on the album Gravity and Grace, and Chatman’s piece Magnificat from the album Magnificat: Songs of Reflection.

Allan Gordon Bell and Stephen Chatman are Associate Composers of the Canadian Music Centre. Samples of the tracks can be found on the Centrediscs website: Field Notes, Magnificat.

The Canadian Music Centre would also like to congratulate Associate Composers R. Murray Schafer and Timothy Brady, and young Canadian composer James O’Callaghan, who were also nominated for 2014 JUNO Awards in the category of Classical Composition of the Year. Schafer’s work Quatuors à cordes and Brady’s work Atacama:Symphonie No. 3 were both released through ATMA , and O’Callaghan’s work Isomorphia for Orchestra and Electronics was released through an independent label. Congratulations should also go to Associate Composer Norbert Palej whose composition’s The Poet and the War and Rorate Coeli were part of one of group of 27’s JUNO nominated CDs. Vancouver Chamber Choir's CD A Quiet Place: Music for Healing III is nominated for Classical Album of the Year and includes pieces by Associate Composers Edward Henderson, Jon Washburn, Don MacDonald and Lionel Daunais. Ian McDougall's CD The Ian McDougall 12tet LIVE is nominated in the Traditional Jazz Album of the Year.

The JUNO Awards ceremony will take place at MTS Centre in Winnipeg, MB, and will be broadcast nationally on CTV television on Sunday, March 30th, at which time all winners will be announced.
