San Summer School of the Arts in Ft. Qu’Appelle, Saskatchewan. The school had “camps” for band, orchestra, jazz, ballet, writers, bag pipers, Ukrainian dancers, and others. When I wrote the piece, I intended it to be programmatic including scenes from the summers we spent there. For instance, the movement entitled “Morning” depicts the bustle of the students getting breakfast in the cafeteria and then going off to their various classes and rehearsals.
