Chenoa Anderson is pleased to announce the official CD release concert/party of Krishna’s Flute – Canadian Music for Flute and Electronics. The release will be held April 27, 2014, 2:30 PM at the Ortona Room (Ortona Armoury, 9722 102 St.) There will be a short concert of selected pieces from the CD, and there will be a reception, cash bar and music. Edmonton composer Ian Crutchley will be performing the electronics (including for his own piece, White Dove).

Admission is $20 and includes a CD.

Krishna’s Flute is the culmination of 7 years of commissioning new pieces for flute and interactive electronics. The CD represents composers from across Canada – John Oliver and Keith Hamel from Vancouver, Ian Crutchley (Edmonton), Brent Lee (Windsor), W.L. Altman (Sackville, NB) and Derek Charke (Wolfville, NS). The title piece refers to the Indian god Krishna, who played the flute so beautifully that everyone who heard his music fell in love with him. This piece, and the others on the disc, using a variety of sound processors, samplers and software synthesizers result in a hyper-flute, producing sounds far beyond the instrument’s normal limitations.
