Congratulations to our Associate Composers Bekah Simms, Vincent Ho, Cassandra Miller, Nicole Lizée, and Ana Sokolović, all nominated for a JUNO for Classical Composition of the Year. We would also like to extend our congratulations to the nominated ensembles who recorded works by Canadian composers: Thunder Bay Symphony Orchestra and the Gryphon Trio for recording AC Jordan Pal's music on "Into the Wonder," and the National Arts Centre Orchestra | l'Orchestre du Centre national des Arts for recording AC Ana Sokolovic's music on New Worlds/Nouveaux Mondes.

Biography:

Terry Rusling worked as an engineer for the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation (CBC). He was on-air engineer for the Gilmour's Albums hosted by CBC broadcaster Clyde Gilmour. In the early 1960s, Morris Surdin, a composer working at the CBC, suggested to Rusling that he try out the electronic studio at University of Toronto, Faculty of Music (UTEMS). Through Surdin, Rusling was introduced to Dr. Myron Schaeffer, to whom he submitted his first electronic compositions. Schaeffer invited Rusling to attend the graduate seminar with Dr.

Canadian Music Centre - Prairie Region (CMC PR) is pleased to announce that the winner of the 2019 CMC PR Emerging Composer Competition is Scott Ross-Molyneux
for his work, Ehrykaviss.

Scott’s piece will be performed by the Winnipeg Symphony Orchestra on Monday, January 28th, 2019 at 7:30PM at the Centennial Concert Hall (Winnipeg) as part of Winnipeg New Music Festival's WNMF 3: Orchestral Voices of the Future.
