Pembroke Symphony Orchestra and acclaimed pianist to perform Juno nominated piano concerto

"Just before I went onstage to perform the concerto with the Toronto Symphony, I asked Larysa what inspired her in this piece. She answered, ‘The movie Predator, especially the scenes in the jungle being chased by the bad guys’!”

That revelation comes from Christina Petrowska Quilico. The acclaimed pianist joins the Pembroke Symphony Orchestra and music director/conductor Mehdi Javanfar to perform the Juno-nominated Piano Concerto by Larysa Kuzmenko in an evening that celebrates women composers, Saturday, March 2 at 7:30 p.m. at Festival Hall, 401 Isabella St. Pembroke..."

Frédéric-Alexandre Michaud (violin), Eliana Zimmerman (cello), and Ylan Chu (piano) bring a wealth of experience via their individual careers. Their collaboration seeks to integrate the canonic European repertoire with classical music from other traditions, paired with North American contemporary compositions. They are currently based in Ottawa and Montréal.
