Esprit Creates New Waves in Queen West Gallery District
New music orchestra takes the next guard of great Canadian composers into contemporary art territory.
Esprit Orchestra’s three-day New Wave Composers Festival begins with a free evening at the DeLeon White Gallery in Toronto. At 7:30 pm on Tuesday May 24th a public reception to “meet and greet” the composers will be followed by New Music in New Placesat 9:00 pm, an event featuring works by hot Toronto composers Brian Current, Rose Bolton, Micheline Roi and Chris Paul Harman. The New Wave Composers Festival is now an annual “hangout” for young composers from across Canada – providing a forum for interaction with the public and a wide range of professionals in the music business. This event is one of CMC’s series of national performances called New Music in New Places, designed to bring Canadian contemporary music out of concert halls and into the lives of Canadians.
