Spring news from the Association of Canadian Women Composers

June 24, 2014

Greetings Association of Canadian Women Composers members and supporters!

I'm very excited to share with you the latest ACWC bulletin, by far the biggest (I won't say the best; how could I pick favourites?) in my tenure as editor. The present edition contains, as always, an important letter from our Chair, Joanna Estelle, but also has an interview with Alice Ho conducted by none other than Simone Auger, former Executive Director of the Canadian Music Centre. This bulletin also features a special guest article by percussion superstar Beverley Johnston, a review of the ACWC's recent concert at the Heliconian Club in Toronto, and articles in both English and French by ACWC members Diane Berry, Anika-France, Martha Hill Duncan, Mary Knickle, Monica Pearce, and Jana Skarecky. If you skip through to the end, you'll also find exciting Composer News items and a few Composer Opportunities worth checking out.

An important note: Joanna Estelle's term as ACWC Chair is coming to an end. If you feel called to help support the work of Canadian women composers, please let Joanna know by August 15 so your candidacy can be brought forward for a vote at the September Annual General Meeting.

Happy composing,
