Pouya Hamidi

Pouya is working as a freelance composer, producer, musician/performer, and sound engineer. Pouya acquired a Master’s in Sound Recording at McGill University and two Bachelor’s degrees from the University Toronto, one in Composition and the other in Piano Performance. He is founder of the video channel Audiolens in Montreal, which features multi-cam live performances of artists in the studio. He is also the co-founder of the contemporary music collective in Toronto called Iranian-Canadian Composers of Toronto (ICOT.ca), who regularly produce performances of group member’s new compositions. Recently Hamidi wrote an Aria for Soprano and Orchestra which was featured in the opening concert of the largest Persian arts and culture festival outside of Iran. He is also the composer, co-founder, and pianist of Ladom Ensemble, a multicultural performance group showcasing original contemporary classical compositions inspired by Persian, Balkan, and other world musics.

One of Pouya’s professional outlets has been composing for music and film. He has employed diverse instrumentations, from a 12-piece string orchestra to Persian traditional instruments, for his soundtracks in various motion picture genres such as animation, documentary, fiction, and feature film.
