The Canadian Music Centre will be open as part of the 16th annual Doors Open Toronto, a weekend celebration of architecture in the city. DOTO offers free and rare access to architecturally, historically, culturally and socially significant buildings across Toronto. As the national home for contemporary composition, and a thriving venue for musical creativity, the CMC offices in historic Chalmers House, serve as an excellent venue for curious visitors taking part in the city-wide event.

The Canadian Music Centre will be open to the public on Sunday, May 24 beginning at 10am.

Schedule of events:

10 am Invisible Orchestra (part 1): a co-presentation with the Hamilton Philharmonic Orchestra, listen to a collection of electroacoustic works that explore unique spaces, and musical sounds in a new context.
12 pm Hannah Tarder-Stoll: A presentation and performance of vocal works by Canadian composers including Raminsh, Bedard, Case, and Palej. Hannah will perform with pianist Maikai Nash.
1 pm Invisible Orchestra (part 2): A second set of electroacoustic pieces
4 pm New Music for New Audiences: An interactive workshop designed to get young children interested in sound art and electronics. Local artists Adam Tindale, Dafydd Hughes, and Rob Cruickshank explore a variety of ways to interface with electronics and sound. Bring your ipad and join in the sound making!

Visitors will experience various exhibits displaying archived photos and musical material from our collection.

Doors Open Toronto presented by Great Gulf has programming throughout the city for May 23 and 24. This year's event features more than 155 buildings, including 55 new participants, an exciting speaker series and city-wide walking tours. To find out more about the roster of locations, click here!
