The Toy Piano Composers present their season opener: a concert of world premieres by emerging composers chosen from the TPC’s annual Call for Works. Featuring Maureen Batt (soprano) and Jesse Clark (bass-baritone) alongside the TPC Ensemble (flute, clarinet, percussion, piano/toy piano, violin, bass).

The Toy Piano Composers is a collective of composers based in Toronto that presents imaginative new music to curious listeners in a playful and engaging concert series. Described as “one of the most cutting edge composers’ collectives in the country,” (Musical Toronto), TPC continues to push the boundaries in the way that contemporary classical music and opera is presented.

Now in its eighth season, TPC has premiered over 100 new works by emerging composers. In addition to working with its own TPC Ensemble, the group has presented concerts in collaboration with Arraymusic, Ensemble Paramirabo, harpist Angela Schwarzkopf, junctQ.n keyboard collective, Sneak Peek Orchestra, and TorQ Percussion Quartet. Passionate about promoting a thriving community for young artists, TPC provides the opportunity for emerging composers to write for, and workshop with, the TPC Ensemble, as part of the To Be Announced concert series.
