Programme Note:
To have an experience in life that touches you so profoundly and then, to discover its realness and truthful essence, is to affirm love in life. I am attempting to capture, to encapsulate, the egregious quiddity of emotion in the life experience. The titles for each miniature are drawn from A Lover's Discourse, by Roland Barthes. Composed between 1996 and 2002.

Premiere Information:
March 1999, Arnold Schönbergzaal, Koninklijk Conservatorium voor Muziek en Dans, Den Haag, Netherlands
