Richardson briefly relates how she supplements her income as a composer through teaching; running the New Creations Festival at the Toronto Symphony Orchestra; as well as acting as an artistic director with her husband at Chamber Music Hamilton. She describes how she is fairly conscious of time and sets aside days to strictly focus and work on her compositions.
