The East Coast Music Association (ECMA) announced several updates today for the upcoming East Coast Music Week being held in Moncton, April 11 to 15, 2012.

Three of the Honourary Awards’ recipients were revealed, including Catherine McKinnon (Dr. Helen Creighton Lifetime Achievement Award), Richard Gibson (Musician’s Achievement Award) and Brent Staeben (Industry Builder Award). These awards will be granted at various events throughout the week (Dr. Helen Creighton Lifetime Achievement Award at the Music Awards Gala; Musician’s Achievement Award at National Bank’s A Sound Celebration; and Industry Builder Award at the Industry Awards Bruch). The recipient of the Directors’ Special Achievement Award will also be revealed at the Music Awards Gala, on Sunday, April 15th.

“Each of these Award recipients have contributed so much to the development of the East Coast music industry, and it is gratifying to be able to honour them in their home province during ECMA Week 2012,” said ECMA Executive Director, Su Hutchinson.

Complete ECMA programming was also announced, including special musical guest Corb Lund, as host for the Bluebird North showcase; Stephen Fearing, Jimmy Rankin, Corb Lund and The Heartbroken on the ECMA Country Stage; Radio Radio and Les Breastfeeders on the Rock Stage; and Phillipe B as guest host with Jimmy Rankin on the SOCAN Songwriters’ Circle.
Platinum sponsor Bell Aliant also unveiled the details of a free concert headlined by ECMA Award winners and 2012 nominees, The Trews. The concert will take place in the Plaza located in front of Moncton City Hall between 1 p.m. and 4 p.m. and will help liven up the city in advance of the Awards Gala on Sunday evening.

“Once again, we are delighted to play a role in promoting, celebrating and recognizing terrific East Coast music,” said Paul Mann, Director of Sales, Consumer Markets at Bell Aliant. “The free concert with the Trews is just one of the ways we have partnered with the ECMA committee here in Moncton to put on an outstanding week of festivities.’’ As title sponsor of the Awards Gala, Bell Aliant will again offer live-streaming of the Gala on bellaliant.net/ecma.
