The Oscillations Festival, featuring two outstanding new music concerts focusing on the human voice, offers a rare opportunity for audiences to experience electroacoustic music in enveloping surround sound.

This concert series will feature the works of four CMC Atlantic Associate Composers: WL Altman, Bob Bauer, Derek Charke, and Steven Naylor.

On February 18th, Electroacoustic Divas features sopranos Helen Pridmore and Janice Jackson, two of Canada’s most celebrated new music divas, in an exploration of whale sounds, world events, Grimm’s Fairy Tales and more. World premiere of Anna Pidgorna’s “Mirror, mirror.” Works by Derek Charke, Richard Karpen, Emily Doolittle, Martin Arnold, and WL Altman will be performed with flair and verve. Charke’s work will feature evocative live video processing by Lukas Pearse.

On February 19th, The Phantom Voice offers a unique opportunity to experience a rich palette of electroacoustic music through a multi-speaker surround sound system. Immerse yourself in a sonic landscape of lush, exotic textures. Be swept away by transcendent sounds from outstanding contemporary composers Karlheinz Stockhausen, Hildegard Westerkamp, Bob Bauer and Steven Naylor.
