Toy Piano Composers: Call for Works

Toy Piano Composers: Call for Works

May 7, 2013

The Toy Piano Composers are a Toronto-based composer collective that presents new music to curious listeners in a playful and engaging concert series. The group is seeking new works and proposals for its 2013-2014 season! They are inviting composers to submit project proposals, works-in-progress or completed works to be performed on our upcoming sixth concert season. Selected pieces will be performed on our concert entitled, To Be Announced, planned for February 8, 2014 in Toronto. Composer must be a self-identified emerging composer. There is no age restriction, but we are limiting the call to residents of Ontario. Please note that we have no funding to subsidize travel, and applicants residing beyond the GTA should consider additional costs they might incur for attending rehearsals/concert.

Works should be scored for our TPC ensemble (or subsets of our ensemble): flute (doubling piccolo), clarinet (doubling bass clarinet), piano (doubling toy piano), percussion, violin, and double bass. They should be between 5 and 15 minutes in duration. Pieces will be chosen that exhibit the spirit of playfulness, curiosity, and collaboration that the Toy Piano Composers strive for.

Deadline: June 2, 2013
