Dundas composer finds inspiration in art

"Ever wonder what turns a composer on? You know, the sorts of things that get the creative juices flowing?

Well, for some, it's the printed word: poetry, prose, Scripture.

For Abigail Richardson-Schulte, the Hamilton Philharmonic Orchestra's composer-in-residence, it's cross connections.

"I always will jump at the opportunity to turn another art form into music, be it poetry, or story or artwork," said Richardson-Schulte from her Dundas home. "And I find it's very accessible for the audience in that way because (they) can understand it, understand contemporary music in a different light."

But that doesn't mean she's all about imitation..."
