The background music is Maya Badian’s Concerto for marimba, vibraphone and orchestra, dedicated to her son Mircea (1967-1989), who was a brilliant percussionist. Mary studied music at Acadia University including 4 years of counterpoint. After graduating she studied acting, singing and dancing at the Banff School of Fine Arts and then in New York City for two years ay the American Musical Dramatic Academy. She performed plays, musicals and operas and then began writing songs. She continued studies in songwriting, poetry and 2 years of creative writing and later in composition. She wrote vocal and instrumental arrangements for different celtic bands. She collaborated in musicals and collective creations.

Biography:

Just recently retired, Réjean Marois taught at Capilano University for the Jazz Studies Program for thirty years. He conducted two vocal ensembles and taught improvisation and instrumental and vocal arranging in the Program.
Furthermore, Réjean has been involved for the last 20 years as arranger and conductor for the Cap Jazz Series concerts featuring renowned jazz and world music artists from around the world. In May 2012, he has received an «Award for Empowering Learning» from Capilano University.
